New Years Blues

Its the most, wonderful day, of the year! Does that song sound familiar? Now that the holidays are over, the returns have begun and things are finally beginning to settle down. The holiday parties ahve stopped, the christmas trees have vanished, and family members return to their nonexistant state common to the rest of the year. We pick up our things, pack up, and move on.

This is the time when people stereotypcially make New Years resolutions. These are also known as "the first week of January To Do Lists" and don't usually end up being maintained throughout the rest of the year.Personally, I take the opportunity to make New Years resolutions so that i can self-improve. This year i want to be happier, more honest, and try new recipes as much as possible! Let's just get my priorities straight...lol

It's That Time of Year Again!

Its the most wonderful time of the year!! ...not really. This is the time when shopping malls and parking garages are filled to the brim, and people wait in lines for hours to buy what they only think they really need. Not that i'm not a fan of Chsirtmas- i am, but mostly the family part- but i absolutely detest the materialization of a holiday that's supposed to be about family and charity. Why should this be the only time of year when people are expected to think of others? Why were we so selfish to begin with?
In my family we don't celebrate the religious art of Christmas, but we do like to get together and give back to others in need. When i was a kid we would voluntter with my Girl Scout Troop to be on RCTV, the local TV channel, and we would be "santa's elves" and we wopuld get presents from donors for Toys For Tots and we would bring children up to sit on Santa's lap.
Not that i didn't always find that creepy...lets just all bring our young children to sit on some strange man's lap! If they were my teenage daughters that'd be inappropriate, but for some reason it's deemed OK for young children. *sigh*

Follow My Computer Apps Class!

I'm following Megan Sullivan at http://boringbloggerme.blogspot.com/ because she's following me back!

She Doesn't Even Go Here...

Hey Guys, so i found this awesome other blog. You should all take a look http://fromlondonwithlovebyiulia.blogspot.com/2011/11/when-did-i-turn-into-cynical-feminist.html#!/2011/11/when-did-i-turn-into-cynical-feminist.html

GSA

So for the GSA we're going to do a "story day" where we ask anonymous questions and answer them through group discussion. With some people close to me going through some hard times lately, i figured that i'd introduce them to GalaDarling. She's great-don't buy her program though. I love her ideas! I figured that we'd need some inspiration to get us started on Thursday so i'll introduce them to this later.Have a look! http://galadarling.com

Hey Kids...

So i was thinking "what should i name my blog?" and OF COURSE,the first things i thought of were feminism and being cynical. The name just kinda came along with it. Oh, and did i mention lesbianism? Haha. I'm perfectly aware that the rest of my Computer Applications class will be seeing this, but i certaintly could care less. I'm off to college in less than a year and i'll never be seeing any of them after this anyways. So carpe diem, my children, and do whatever you want, the world really doesn't care as much as you'd like to think.
